This homeowners roof was only a few years old but was installed improperly and failing prematurely. Part of the issues were improper flashing and improper nail pattern on the existing shingles. This was leading to leaks and blow offs. The roof also did not have adequate ventilation. We removed the roof all the way down to the roof deck and installed ice and water shielding in the valley. We added a new low slope cap and base systems on the front and back porch because they were low pitch. A new air intake ventilation was installed to properly balance the ventilation coming out of the ridge. We closed the box vents in order to install hip and ridge vent because it is more uniform in appearance. Refreshed chimney with step and counter flashing, properly this time. It takes 6 nails per shingle to withstand 130mph wind gusts. The new roof now has a 30 year life expectancy.
